Software Safety Engineer

Your role

As a Software Safety Engineer, you will have an important role in the development of Saab Kockums' product portfolio to ensure they are safe to use, maintain and decommission. Our work covers analyses for the entirety of the Product Life Cycle, and focuses on system integration and interaction as well as singular system analysis. You will work closely with the combat and automation teams to ensure that safety is of the requisite standard in the development process to guarantee the safe return to port for the crews onboard our products.

You will have challenging tasks within the field of software safety relying on close cooperation with contacts inside and outside of the company. You will also have the opportunity to gain insight into, and develop yourself within, several other areas within the field of safety such as mechanics, electronics, Human-Machine Interface development and Human Factors Engineering. For this role, it is highly important to be flexible and open to new experiences and skill sets.


Main tasks:

* Identification, analysis and minimization of hazards (risks) onboard in order to prevent potential accidents with damage to person, platform, or external environment.
* Follow-up implementation of safety related regulations, standards, and risk mitigating actions on affected systems and arrangement
* Participating in development of Safety Statements for our products
* Actively participate in the continuous learning of our organization by implementing know-how into our processes, methods and tools

Your profile

We are looking for a safety professional who is curious, outgoing and whom find it easy to understand technical systems and what makes a system functionally safe! Since the role includes a large degree of interaction and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders you need to be able to build and develop long term relationships as well as being able to work with various kind of people at all levels.

Required skills:

* Relevant Engineering degree (Software engineering, Risk/Safety, etc.) or similar
* A few years experience in Software engineering development
* Excellent knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written



Desired skills:

* Experience with hazard identification and analysis techniques (eg. MIL-STD-882E or H ProgSäk), assurance/integrity levels, safety cases, and having implemented safety in software systems.
* Experience in the application of requirements from safety regulations and standards
* Experience of engineering development and ability to understand software and hardware failure modes, causes and effects
* Experience working with Human Factors Engineering in large organizations

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
