The engine control teams in the department Powertrain Controls & Calibration (PCC) are involved early in the development of new powertrain concepts and according SW. It is a large challenge to develop solutions which both meet legal requirements and have maximum robustness not causing customer disturbances. The teams are responsible for development of system solutions, functional design and verification in full-scale test cars and HIL´s. We realise our ideas through the development of functionality software in a number of embedded control systems.

ECC Project & SW Management is a group within the Engine Controls and Calibration section, that consists of project leaders, software coordinators and test engineers. Test engineers range from vehicle software testers, developers of software for testing to engine and vehicle test coordinators. Coordinating the launch and effect of Engine Control software changes regarding function development, testing, calibration and quality assurance is now so complex that a new role is found to be needed.

The Software System Package Owner (SSPO) is involved in the processes related to in house software development within Volvo R&D Powertrain Controls and Calibration. The main purpose of the SSPO is to bridge the gap between system changes and the software changes related to one Software System Package (SSP) so that functional growth is achieved while the quality of the SSP is maintained. The SSPO is responsible for at least one Software System Package (SSP). An SSP consists of software functionality for e.g. combustion or exhaust after treatment including the responsibilities for all four sections within PCC.
Main responsibilities

* Manage SSP changes such as; Derive SSP change requests by participating during system development, control backlog of software
* Negotiate SSP change requests and handshake SSP change requests
* Define changes to the software
* Prioritize SSP change requests to be developed
* Support the definition of tasks to support SSP change requests (requirements updates, design/variant updates, code changes, tests)
* Define tasks to maintain SSP quality (architectural/design changes, variability, etc)
* Plan tasks execution with the Software Team Leader (SWTL) role
* Accept SSP releases together with the Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) role and ensure that SSP related information (together with the SWTL and developers) is maintained
* SSP Requirements (input and derived)
* SSP Design (SWDD High Level)
* SSP Variants and CM handling
* SSP Resource consumption
* Signal interface, Branching & Common, First issue of Cal Guide

Required qualifications

* B.Sc or higher degree in Computer Science, Applied Physics, Mechatronics or other engineering area
* At least 5 years of work experience
* Automotive knowledge
* Software development knowledge
* Work experience from engine or vehicle product development is meritorious
* Experienced in engine control or diagnostic systems is meritorious
