The Vehicle team within the V.A.S. Technology organization is responsible for vehicles, machines, trailers and safety systems in V.A.S. autonomous customer solutions. We take part in all life cycle phases, from the early specification and development phases throughout the maintenance and quality phases during customer operation. We interact closely with colleagues in Group Trucks Technology (GTT) & Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE) to secure base vehicle and machine readiness. We then develop and integrate the on-board autonomous driving systems and the off-board safety systems. It is our responsibility to ensure that the vehicles and machines can be operated by the autonomous driving system in a good and safe manner.


Position description
As Software Verification Engineer in the V.A.S. Technology Vehicle team you will take on the task of leading the verification work for middleware software and build toolchain, for one of our in-house developed ECUs. You will develop methods, tools and test cases. You will help us assure the quality of our deliveries before they are used by our application teams.
Regarding method development you will help us work towards using, and developing, state-of-the-art verification methods, as required by functional safety standards. You will make sure our methods are efficient and helps us deliver software fast with excellent quality.
The tools you will be developing will both be internally developed test frameworks, and external frameworks that you integrate and make use of. In addition to the software verification you will also be responsible to secure we have the hardware in place that we need.
When developing test cases you will work in close collaboration with our ECU software development teams, supporting them by finding innovate ways of verifying and stressing their implementations.

Qualifications
As you will be working with new technology, it is preferable if you have broad experience in product development within relevant engineering areas.
You will have the opportunity to work with different cultures cross functionally, with internal as well as external stakeholders and therefore we see that you have good interpersonal and communication skills. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. Other requirements that we also see as beneficiary for the role are:
Experience from development of embedded systems
Experience from verification of embedded systems, on unit and integration level
Experience from working within a safety standard development process, such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849
Good knowledge about C programming for embedded systems
Good knowledge about Python programming
Good knowledge about communication interfaces commonly used within Automotive applications
Experience from troubleshooting, both software and hardware
