Software/Function developer
At Research and Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. The section Active Safety & Vehicle Dynamic Functions delivers world leading active safety and vehicle dynamics functions and has a clear ambition to extend the leadership in the future. The group Vehicle Motion & Control is responsible for the development of functions and software within the area of vehicle dynamics and motion control. This area covers both normal driving control e.g. autonomous longitudinal- and lateral control, limit handling control e.g. ESC control and vehicle state estimation e.g. mass, friction estimation. We develop software and functions in-house and together with our suppliers. We are today 21 persons working as software/function developers, function designers and function owners within this group.
As Software/Function Developer within Vehicle State Estimation you will have a unique opportunity to apply a broad spectrum of vehicle dynamics, mechatronics and programming. The field of Vehicle State Estimation includes e.g. vehicle mass estimation, lateral and longitudinal speed estimation, road slope and road friction estimation. As a developer you need competence in vehicle dynamics and signal processing to understand and improve equations used for calculating different estimates. Vehicle state estimates are a vital part of the active safety and vehicle dynamics functionality in all Volvo cars. The job tasks range from early design, implementation, and function testing both in simulation environments and in vehicles.
Main responsibilities
* Receive, analyse and give feedback on requirements
* Develop software by using model-based and/or textual based programming
* Test code and/or model on unit level and make sure it works also in a complete delivery
* Document code and/or model including test results.
* Develop software by using model-based and/or textual based programming
* Create and configure test simulation environments
* Perform testing in simulation environments, bench tests, hardware in the loop and in vehicles
* Develop and maintain tools to simplify data analysis
* Perform system safety activities
Required qualifications
* M.Sc. degree in Control Theory, Mechatronics, Vehicle Dynamics, Physics, Mathematics or similar
* Matlab/Simulink
* Experience of C is meritorious
* Experience of vehicle dynamics and signal processing is very meritorious
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
* Driver´s license type B
* Experience of ISO26262 is meritorious
* Experience of working within the automotive industry is meritorious

* A high level of integrity and a willingness to improve the current ways of working
* Ability to hold presentations and willing to share information with others
