They are now looking for a talented Solid-State Scientist to join their highly collaborative Solid-State and Automation team within Early Product Development and Manufacturing (EPDM) in Gothenburg.

Brief information about the assignment

Location: Gothenburg (Mölndal)
Job Type: Consultancy assignment
Assignment Duration: 2025-01-07 to 2025-06-30, with a possibility for further 6 month extension.

About the Role

In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing AstraZeneca’s early portfolio from discovery through Phase II. By leveraging your expertise in crystallography and solid-state science, you will collaborate across disciplines to ensure physical form screening, selection, and control within drug substances and products. This is an opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory and actively contribute to the progression of innovative drug projects while driving scientific development in solid-state science.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform solid-state characterization using techniques such as TGA, DSC, XRPD, and DVS.
• Lead the physical form screening, characterization, selection, and control processes for drug substances and products.
• Collaborate closely with analytical, formulation, and biopharmaceutics scientists to drive scientific innovation.
• Design and execute lab-based experimental work to meet project timelines.
• Operate and refine solid-state workflows using advanced automation equipment, including weighing robots and liquid handling systems.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional with the following:

Essential Requirements:

• A strong scientific background in solid-state science or a related field.
• Proficiency in solid-state characterization techniques (TGA, DSC, XRPD, DVS).
• Experience with physical form screening and selection processes in pharmaceutical development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• A problem-solving mindset and a strong focus on delivering results within timelines.

Desirable Requirements:

• Interest in lab automation, simulation, or prediction.
• Understanding of how physicochemical and solid-state properties affect drug product development.
