Solution Architect - Digital Health / Clinical Development

We have a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about architecting innovative IT solutions to enable our continued digital transformation across Digital Health and Clinical Development. As a Solution Architect within the R&D IT Architecture group, you will be responsible for architecting and designing complex technical solutions and work collaboratively with stakeholders across business and IT in doing so. You'll be providing the architectural leadership to craft requirements and opportunities into well-architected solutions across cloud and on-premise, working with both SaaS/COTS and custom developed solutions.



As a solution architect, you will be responsible for ensuring that the solutions you help deliver form an integral part of the global IT estate and align with the wider enterprise reference architecture and domain roadmaps. You will need to be a good communicator and have a collaborative and 'can do' approach.

About the role

Ensure that solution architectures and designs are appropriately robust and address business, application, information and infrastructure architectural requirements
*

Partner with business stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, and solution engineers to deliver solutions that are aligned to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles, use common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits).
*

Within the solution development lifecycle, the role will be accountable for architecting the solution design; starting with solution options evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates to contribute to business cases.

Provide technical & IT expertise support to project teams and conducts AZ architectural reviews throughout project lifecycle
*

Work with third party suppliers as required and contribute to the creation of local or functional design documents. Verify that technical development and delivery are in alignment with the Architecture Roadmaps, Blueprints and Information Services Strategy

Documents all architecture analysis and design work

Key skills and experience?

Relevant technical degree or equivalent

You will have a background in architecture and solution delivery

Exposure to and proven adoption of industry standards and methodologies

Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language

We believe the following experience is desirable:

Previous consultancy experience

*

Proven development/design experience in at least one technical domain.

Experience of developing innovative solutions, blueprints, and standards for solution design
*

Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language
*

A strong interest in customer facing multi-channel (mobile, web) applications and supporting architecture
*

Agile practices and agile project delivery

*

Understanding of the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry and key concepts of systems required to support clinical development.
