The Sourcing & Commodity leader/buyer has a functional leadership role within purchasing of logistics services. You will develop and implement purchasing strategies, lead important strategic sourcing projects, drive negotiations and work with sourcing development together with buyers and suppliers. You will also lead negotiation teams of buyers and logistics operations, and lead and/or participate in development projects. Sustainability is an important part of the job, and you will lead and/or participate in sustainability analysis and studies.
As a Sourcing & Commodity leader, you have a key role in the organization and big impact of the results of the logistics purchasing function. You will contribute directly to the financial bottom-line results of Volvo Group and have direct effect on reducing CO2 as part of the sustainability targets of Volvo Group. You will work in an engaged and collaborative team where you get trusted with a high degree of autonomy and given support when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to segment business plan & be an active member in the global/regional network of commodity buyers
Develop and implement sourcing strategies
Identify and execute cost reduction strategies
Drive improvements in sourcing processes including escalations
Analyze and map supplier risk management and opportunities
In full cooperation with Commodity purchasers, support and participate in commodity sourcing projects by providing local & regional requirements and market knowledge
Lead/direct sourcing projects
Work with stakeholders on all levels to secure input and anchor recommendations
Collaborate with other departments, such as operational logistics departments, trucks sales, production etc., to together find the best solution for the organization
Partner cross-functionally to deliver projects in a manner that optimizes the delivery approach across the organization
Coordinate with cross functional teams to develop best strategic sourcing strategies
Strategic development of suppliers
Develop and implement sourcing methods with the aim to improve the sourcing cycle time
Lead cross-functional sourcing teams and create a positive team spirit where individuals’ competences are fully utilized
To succeed in this key role, we expect you to have:
A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Purchasing, Business Administration or Engineering is required; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 10+ years of logistics purchasing and/or Project management required
Advanced knowledge of Logistics in any of the services road, sea, air or contract logistics is required
Comprehensive knowledge, understanding and ability to successfully manage complex program and projects
Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
Have a strategic mindset and are good at communicating and collaborating with others
As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
