Sourcing Manager for Steel and Raw material

Main mission

As a commodity buyer for steel and raw material, you will be responsible for the purchase of all the steel we press ourselves in our production units. As we are in changing times, the role will also include responsibility from purchasing side for of new sustainable development of fossil-free steel, a unique opportunity to be part of shaping the future. As a commodity purchaser for steel and raw material, you will handle steel in running production with the main goal to secure capacity. In your daily work, you will work closely with the suppliers and R&D through technical & commercial analysis of the complete business scope in each matter. At the same time, you will constantly challenge the current supplier base by having an overview working with optimization and trying to find cost savings. You will also lead and develop the strategy and collaboration of a 3-ring, which consists of colleagues from the project and quality teams.   

Your profile

We are searching for a driven person with both a commercial understanding and analytical thinking. We believe you are structured and used to both organize and prioritize your own work. You have experience of earlier negotiations with good results. As a person, you find it easy to see the bigger picture and understand how the various steps are interconnected and can be managed in parallel to achieve the overall results. Scania has a truly global environment that we hope you will feel comfortable in and where you can work independently with our cross functions. Since you will be in contact with many people, internal Scania as well as suppliers you clearly communicate requirements and consequences and find it easy to argue your case and to put forward arguments and to be listened to. We also hope you get motivated to work towards tough goals. 

We appreciate that you have: 


• A degree in engineering, business administration, or similar meriting experience, and have relevant Work experience from purchasing of 2-5 years
• An ability to talk fluently in spoken and written English. Swedish is an advantage as well as other language skills 
• Good knowledge in Excel 
• A drivers license, it is seen as a merit
