Älmhult Municipality is in an expansive phase of development, and its population is growing like never before. We are truly international in many senses. There are 53 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. This year we can boast teachers coming from 34 different countries. WORK TASKS
As a Special Pedagogue, the main objective is to provide an environment for staff and students to thrive regardless of their individual needs. The special pedagogue meets with teachers as well as students to identify whether the needs lie in developing the teacher to reach each student or in creating an action plan for the child. This position not only requires flexibility but also an ability to collect all the available evidence and data concerning a particular case before making any changes/adaptation or recommendations. In this role, the special pedagogue is also a part of creating a safe and welcoming environment for all types of students. The person needs to collaborate and will have an integral part in the teaching team. In your capacity as special pedagogue, you will work with individual students, take part in the Student Welfare Team, as well as contact parents and have meetings when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have an appropriate level of education (university or similar) in Special pedagogics, and preferably also a bachelors degree in teaching. The applicant must be a flexible member of a team, and able to respond to the needs of a vibrant, dynamic workplace. You must be excited by the development of the school and be able to think independently to make good decisions. Our school is multicultural, and you must have an interest in working in an international environment with different cultures. Collaboration is a key word in our school. Although we are looking for someone with IB experience and who has attended IB courses, we will consider other applicants.
