Accelerated Life Testing Specialist

But now we want to be even better! We’re looking for a passionate Specialist in Accelerated Life Testing to join our MT&C R&D team working with High Speed Separators (HSS). So, what are you going to do today?

MT&C – Materials Technology & Chemistry is a department within R&D BU HSS comprised of specialists and laboratory engineers working with metallic and polymer materials, lubricants, and analytical chemistry. The department has its own laboratory equipped with various instruments (e.g. SEM, FTIR, TGA) and testing facilities.

About the job

Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) is the process of testing a product by exposing it to conditions (stress, strain, temperatures, wear, voltage, vibration rate, pressure etc.) exceeding its normal service parameters in order to identify faults and potential modes of failure in a short amount of time. The main purpose of ALT is to improve product reliability and to accurately predict the product service life and maintenance needs as well as significantly reduce time to market for new products.

In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team to design and establish methodologies and test setups allowing reliable identification of product weaknesses and ensuring our methods conform to industry best practice.

Main responsibilities:
* Lead the work and be responsible for the area of ALT at R&D BU HSS.
* Together with specialists and professionals from MT&C, Technology, NPD and Test Centre, define, design and set up appropriate tests for ALT, including but not limiting to:
+ Selection of model that accurately relates a test object's performance to its real-life stress levels.
+ Identification of suitable test conditions, taking into account all factors affecting the test object.
+ Identification of a reliable correlation between the test object's response to the levels of applied stress factors over time to predict the object’s performance and lifespan at normal operating conditions.
+ Development and application of computer simulation technologies to test the performance, durability, safety, and functionality of engineering solutions in a virtual environment.
* Together with other specialists at R&D HSS, develop reliable methods for component testing.
* Develop further and apply the Design of Experiments (DOE) and Model Based Design (MBD) concepts to make our processes more efficient.
* In collaboration with other line functions and departments, contribute to the development of new and existing products.

Requirements
* BSc (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related.
* 5+ years of experience in ALT or similar reliability-oriented product development in Machine industry or other Mechanical Engineering related industry.
* Knowledge of computer simulation technologies.
* Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills, willingness to gain and share new knowledge and ability to communicate effectively.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Full professional proficiency in English.
* Experience in leading teams is a merit.
* Experience in leading projects from conception to completion is a merit.
