We are looking for a Sr. Design Engineer to join our growing global R&D department at NKT! We are now offering an unique opportunity to influence and proudly be part of the worlds renewable energy transformation.
Design and Develop for the future
Come add a fresh breeze to our global R&D department at NKT! You will be working on developing cable accessories for high voltage AC and DC cable systems needed for the green transformation of the energy system.
You will be joining a tech-community with extensive knowledge and experience in material, design, simulation, and testing of cable terminations and joints. Except for designing technical solutions that meet the customer requirements in collaboration with R&D engineers, specialist and test facilities globally, your role will also involve performing and evaluating electrical and mechanical simulations, participate in development and qualification tests and develop quality control plans.
Your tasks will also include:
• Be design responsible throughout the R&D projects
• Conceptual work in 3D CAD
• Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
• Design verification – both simulation and test plan creation
• Produce final designs and drawings

To succeed in this role we believe that you are curious and optimistic, with great engineering skills and a good understanding of relevant materials used within High Voltage cable Accessories. Additionally you are eager to work on your personal development, where your spark for innovation is balanced by a strong sense for quality and ownership of deliveries. Furthermore, your CV includes..
• University degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent relevant field
• Min. 3 years of work experience within the field
• Experience and System knowledge in 3D CAD – Solid Works or similar CAD system, PLM system, and Matlab.
• Experience in Multiphysics simulations – COMSOL or similar FEM system
• Fluent in English
Bonus points for:
• Fluency or knowledge in other languages, especially Swedish and German
• Taking agency of your accomplishments
• Experience with advanced mechanical simulations using e.g ANSYS or ABAQUS
• Experience from medium or high voltage industry
You will be located in Alingsås and report to Head of R&D Technology & Basics. Because of the global set-up you will be travelling to other sites occasionally, estimated 5-10 days per year, domestic and international.
