Sr. Research Engineer in Machining Dynamics

The department for Metal Cutting Research is an internal competence center responsible for developing knowledge and information needed for process simulation of metal cutting and secondly supports and performs product development work within machining theory, machining dynamics and application support.Working methods are applying FEA to solve thermal, mechanical, dynamic and transient problems and uses mechanics, dynamics and solid mechanics to derive needed formulas for product development and verification of FEA results. Position As a Sr Researcher you will work with research projects to strengthen Sandvik Coromant's knowledge in metal cutting, especially in machining dynamics.You will work with colleagues from product development in both knowledge and product development and also with external contacts to develop and support technical analysis and simulations. Requirements - Strong skill in the field of solid mechanics, dynamics (also experimental dynamics) and finite element analysis.- Strong skill in machining and machining dynamics.- MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering.- Good communication skills, both verbal and written at all levels of contact - English is essential.Experience of metal cutting and metal cutting applications is a plus.- Applicants must have or be able to develop a deep interest in metal cutting and be pro-active, self-motivated and computer literate.
