Arbetsbeskrivning
SSAB is undertaking a strategic roadmap to revolutionize iron- and steelmaking, and to be the world’s first steel company to deliver iron ore-based fossil-free steel to the market in 2026. We are looking for a highly motivated person to join us in this journey as Commodity Manager for steel scrap. Location is Oxelösund.
About the job
As part of the strategic roadmap for providing fossil-free steel, Oxelösund’s steel production technology will be converted from blast furnace production to electric arc furnace production. SSAB procurement is now looking for a Commodity Manager who will be part of the raw material procurement team and a cross-functional conversion project team, with a responsibility to work with the increasing need for scrap in Oxelösund.
As Commodity Manager, your mission will be to develop and implement the sourcing strategy in close collaboration with the internal stakeholders and procurement colleagues. The first few years focus will be on preparations for the increased amount of scrap and you will work closely with the conversion project team in Oxelösund, but also stakeholders from other SSAB sites.
In the raw material procurement team, you will have highly professional colleagues responsible for other key raw material commodities of SSAB. Besides your own area of responsibility, you will contribute to procurement overall strategy and processes while also working with short and long term activities. You will report to the Procurement Director of Raw materials.
Travelling is a natural part of the job.
Your qualifications
As Commodity Manager, you will not have a team formally reporting to you, but leadership skills are still needed in order to lead the commodity team. We are looking for someone who can act as a role model to create involvement and engagement, and your skills in communication will be important.
Strong project management skills are required for being able to plan in an early stage and then deliver according to the project roadmap.
As a professional profile, besides the strategic capabilities, you need to have hands-on mentality and ability to work with daily tasks and getting those done. Your analytical skills will be a key competence in succeeding in this position and you do not mind deep diving into numbers to get a full understanding.
You have a strong background and knowledge around the scrap or similar raw material business within the steel industry, which you preferably have gained in a procurement organization. Experience from supply chain work including bulk shipments is also beneficial.
As a person, you are a team player with integrity and great social skills, which together with your competence make you a great colleague to work with. Through your solid experience, you have learnt to have an independent, method driven and result-orientated way of working.
We expect you to have a Master's or Bachelor’s degree in economics or technology. You have very good written and spoken English skills as well as professional skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
Our offer
We offer for the right candidate an important, challenging and stimulating position with responsibility in an international environment with great opportunities to develop and influence your own ways of working and SSAB´s performance.
