What you can expect
Due to improved economic conditions, the steel industry is going through a phase of rapid recovery. SSAB is looking to take advantage of opportunities in the market to accelerate expansion and execute on our growth strategy. To accomplish this SSAB’s M&A department is looking to add additional competence to the M&A team.
As an M&A associate, you will be reporting to the Group Head of M&A and will be based in our corporate HQ in Stockholm. You will play a key role in a wide range of activities within the department and gain great development within the field of M&A:
In the large strategic M&A initiatives, you will be supporting the head of M&A and the rest of the transaction team throughout the entire process from evaluation to post-merger integration.
For small to mid-sized transactions, you will have an active role in the evaluation and due diligence phase, managing work streams and external consultancy teams, providing support to SSAB stakeholders.
Support the Head of M&A in performing financial analysis, assessing valuation impact, development of offer letters and negotiation strategy.
The vast majority of your time will be spent to evaluate or execute M&A transactions
Candidate profile
Given the role and broad range of responsibilities included in the scope, SSAB is looking for a candidate with a genuine interest in working with acquisition related growth in a corporate context. You are most probably team-oriented, have an outgoing personality as well as an analytical mindset. Additionally, you have a strong work ethic and an ability to manage multiple simultaneous work streams. You also have:
Degree within finance, business or engineering with 1-3 years’ experience from the following:
Investment Banking or M&A boutique
Corporate Finance or financial due diligence or valuation from reputable audit firm
Management Consultancy
M&A department from a large corporate
Experience working with financial analysis or transactions is a merit but not a requirement.
Strong academic track record
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly excel and power point
Excellent written and oral communication skills (English and Swedish)
We offer
While the role initially will be supportive to the Head of M&A, however, over time you are expected to seek and assume additional responsibilities and in due time manage your own M&A projects. Additionally, you will be working in close proximity to Group Management and as needed, there may be an opportunity to engage in other corporate related projects.
