SSAB - Master Thesis - Rock reinforcement method

Within underground mining, excellent rock reinforcement of new ground is critical to continue the operations. Methods to use depend on the prerequisites of the rock, but there are still several methods available. This thesis aims to develop a guideline on what method is most beneficial for the customer, given all aspects customers demand on rock reinformcement, including security, quality, environment etc. Placement Optional.

In this master thesis, you will be working with, thought interviewing underground mines and valuing their needs, creating a guideline on what rock reinforcement method suits best given then rock prerequisities.
By deep diving customers needs, you will find out what areas are most important and how those are valued. Different rock reinforcement methods have different results when it comes to these factors, which is what need to be analyzed, and then piled togeteher into a recom-mendation per rock type. The result of the above mentioned areas shall be presented in a re-port and presentation for the management team in Virsbo. Time frame can be discussed, preferably 4-6 months full time. You will be working closely with the Virsbo management team and other key persons within the SSAB organization. You will be having some contact with sales representatives but you will also have to go outside SSAB and search for mining com-panies to build knowledge their needs. You will be having most calls and meetings over video so location for thesis can be optional. Reporting will be made to Sales Director of ERB, Sara Valentin Eklöw
Your qualifications
We are looking for a master thesis student within any science area. Applicants with interest for steel and product applications are preferred. You must be fluent in English in speaking and writing.
