Staff software engineer, IoT Architect

In our facilities in Solna / Sundbyberg we develop and manufacture diagnostics tests that improve patient outcome all over the world.


In the role as IoT Architect you get to be part of a software development team responsible for architecture, design, development, maintenance and deployment of Cepheid’s C360 connected platform. Cepheid C360 is a cloud based software platform providing administrative and analytics support for Cepheid’s GeneXpert product family.


We are looking for a senior and skilled professional to support us in taking ownership of the architecture, design, development, maintenance and deployment of the Cepheid product. In addition to this you get to work with and provide software documentation, for example software requirement specifications, functional specifications and design specifications. Cross-functional collaborations and interactions with various stakeholders from functions such as SQA, Marketing, Service and support organizations, and project/program managers during the development and delivery of the product is key to succeeding in this role. Analyzing customer- and marketing requirements, and providing technical leadership skills to lead and mentor other engineers, to successfully identify innovative solutions are also part of being a staff software engineer.


Minimum requirements:
Education and Experience (in years):
Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree in field with 10+ years of related work experience.



Knowledge and skills:
A minimum of 10 years professional experience in software design and development
A minimum of 2 years public cloud IoT professional experience, AWS IoT or Azure IoT
Full-Stack; ability to work across all layers of the application, back-end database through UI
Expertise in software development with Java, Spring
Strong in distributed systems design and development
Strong in cloud development and deployment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Strong in computer networking concepts like VPN, routers, firewalls, DNS, NAT, Virtual IPs
Strong in cyber security
Experience with REST, JSON
Experience with databases, PL/SQL, HA, scalability, high performance applications
Comfortable in using a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
Knowledge about build and deployment pipelines, CI/CD, Gradle, Jenkins
Experience from Agile/Scrum team work
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable presenting to and communicating with cross-functional groups at multiple levels of corporate structure
Ability to provide technical leadership skills to lead and mentor other engineers
Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, curious, accountable and flexible
Should be able to accommodate a geographically dispersed org. (i.e. Sweden, India & USA)
Professional working proficiency in English is required
