We are currently looking for a Statistical Science Associate Director to join a strong global biometrics team and become a cross functional quantitative leader within a late-stage drug development project This role will be based at AstraZeneca's R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden or Gaithersburg, US.
What you'll do
We are looking for individuals who can act as a cross functional quantitative leader and expert with oversight over large late phase clinical trials, work collaboratively, develop junior staff within biometrics as well as increase understanding and utilization of statistics across the drug project teams. In this role, we want you to:

Lead the statistical thinking and contributions to the delivery of studies, development plans, regulatory strategy, health technology assessment and/or commercial activities

Direct project work, including statistical staff and/or CRO partners, to ensure delivery to standards, quality and time
*
Develop design options and provide high quality decision support to enable the business to make informed decisions about a study or project
*
Quantify the benefit, risk, value and uncertainty of the emerging asset/product profile
*
Investigate and apply novel statistical approaches, for relevant statistical issues and/or regulatory guidance and/or value demonstration, including modelling and simulation
*
Mentor/coach and support the education and training of statistics staff
Essential for the role
A successful candidate has sufficient experience working as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry to independently perform and lead statistical work within a project, an indication within a more complex project or be recognized as a methodology expert. This individual is able to lead and direct Biometrics work either in house or partnering with CROs to ensure delivery to quality and time. You also have:

MSc/PhD in Statistics or Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component)

Extensive experience of pharmaceutical development, program design, data analysis and interpretation
*
In depth knowledge of the technical and regulatory requirements related to the role
*
Experience of major regulatory interactions and/or submissions
*
Ability to apply statistical expertise to complex problems, problem solving and quality focus
*
Strong knowledge of programming in R and/or SAS
*
Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
