The Bioinformatics Core Facility provides a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics analysis as well as specialized courses to researchers from the university of Gothenburg and other external universities. Job assignments
As a statistician at the Bioinformatics Core Facility, your main task is to provide statistics support and consultation to our users. You will work in several projects, and in each project analyses and time frames are set up in agreement with the user. It includes both planning and statistical analyses of biological data.
You are responsible for the analysis and presentation of the project results, so we assume that you can work independently and within the set time frames. You need to be able to learn new software quickly and, if necessary, write your own code to analyze and visualize data. Teaching will also be a part of your work.
Qualifications
• You must have a Masters in Mathematical Statistics or equivalent education
• You must be experienced in R and any established scripting
• Experience in the analysis of genomic data such as: NGS, microarray and/or proteomics are an advantage
• Experience in UNIX/Linux and use of computing clusters is desirable
• You should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• You should be able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Familiarity with terminology used in Biology and Molecular Biology is an advantage
• Previous experience working in multidisciplinary environment and pedagogical skills are desirable
• Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and on good communication and interpersonal skills
Employment
The employment is a substitute (limited) for 12 months, 100% of full-time and is placed at Core Facilities, Bioinformatics, Sahlgrenska Academy. Starting date as agreed.
