About the role
Our first Hydrogen based steel project in Boden is broken down into 4 areas: Hydrogen manufacturing, Iron making (DRI), Steel making, as well as Site Infrastructure and utilities.
As a Steel Mill Construction Manager – Mechanical & Piping, you will report directly to the Lead Steel Mill Construction Manager, and you will assume responsibility to deliver such scope from engineering to hand-over to operations. As a Construction Manager in one of our Areas, to optimize project delivery, you work in a matrix structure within our Project Delivery organization, and will work cross-functionally with our Engineering, Procurement, Planning, Technology and Operations departments.
Your main responsibility is to ensure that our EPCM, OEM, and Contractor partners deliver the project safely and in accordance with H2GS requirements within targets for schedule and budget.
Elements to be managed:
· Constructability and coordination between engineering disciplines
· Purchasing progress and expedition of each element from OEM and other suppliers
· Fabrication & shipping logistics planning and coordination (OEM equipment FOB; shipping and logistics is H2GS responsibility)
· All big logistical operations
· Temporary works and utilities management
· Testing and commissioning oversight of all electrical installations
Oversight of installation planning and delivery of:
• Steelmaking process (OEM) electrical distribution
• Other non-OEM equipment electrical distribution (e.g. cranes, pumps, compressors, HVAC necessary for facility support of the steelmaking process)
• Onboard and balance of facility electrical
Deliverables:
• An incident and injury free project
• High standards of quality execution and delivery across the project that meet all codes and specifications
• Weekly written report to the CM Lead describing the project status vs plan.
• Details of red flags and proposed mitigation plans
• Project risk analysis and control
• Clear, concise ongoing communication and coordination between all stakeholders.
• Timely handover, cold Cx and hot Cx of each system installation
• Cost and change control such that the project is delivered on budget
• Control of compliance and adherence regarding legal matters related to construction and commissioning activity.
Responsibilities:
· Check and coordinate designs for compliance to codes and specification whilst ensuring CDM (construction design management) has been fully considered (buildability)
· Track and report upstream regarding design stage progress from basic engineering through to IFC.
· Stand over the materials and equipment delivery management to ensure pre-inspections, logistics, lift and shift, installation and construction proceed with the minimum of damages and errors.
· Monitor construction standards, attend the requisite inspections, and sign off accordingly.
· Work with the QA/QC and Cx agent to ensure schedules are met.
· Monitor and report regarding all aspects of construction safety, quality, schedule, and change control.
· Any other duty relating to the construction and installation of all constituent parts of said plant and equipment/systems.
Qualifications
· Minimum 15 years experience in industrial construction project delivery, of which at least 10 years with hands-on construction management experience in the Steelmaking industry is required
· Relevant technical certifications in electrical trades is required
· Engineering or other relevant technical degree is a plus
· Fluency in English is required
· Track record as construction manager driving complex projects, covering both planning/designing phase as well as execution phase
· Experience working on an owner’s team is a plus
· Experience working in multi-cultural environment is a plus
