Production Unit (PU) Sandviken, within the Business Area Sandvik Mining & Rock Technology, has a Logistics department with responsibility for ensuring the materials supply, in order to meet customer demands regarding lead times and customer satisfaction. There are about 500 people in the PU, 80 of them working with Logistics and 11 of those working with purchasing. We are now looking for a mixed roll of Strategic Purchaser and Tactical Purchaser.

Job summery
As Strategic purchaser you will be our resource in our biggest investment projects where you will be included from the start to the end of the projects. You will be a part of evaluate and choose supplier, set up different agreements and be responsible for the negotiation of the new investments to our Production Unit, and you also maintain and manage a portfolio of suppliers of raw materials such as bars and tubes. You guide and develop supplier relationships, collaborate with Sourcing concerning contract negotiations and strategy and ensure the fulfillment of purchasing policies and processes, as well as compliance with ethical standards, relevant laws and regulations.

Balancing costs on the one hand with service levels on the other is a daily challenge for you. You need to have a good relationship with our internal functions such as Planning, Production, Quality, R&D and Product Management to be able to be successful in your role. Other main responsibilities in this position include following up and monitoring suppliers and actively taking actions that improve their performance. You manage supplier forecasts, identify and implement projects that deliver cost savings and/or increased value, on your own and in conjunction with the suppliers. Furthermore, you continually initiate and lead process improvements and develop our cooperation with other Sandvik sites.

We have a really intensive and interesting year ahead and the most of your time will be focus on the strategic role.

You have some years of experience in international purchasing activities regarding negotiations and investments work preferably within the manufacturing industry. We are looking for someone with a degree in Industrial Engineering Management, Logistics or another relevant field, or equivalent knowledge obtained through work experience. You have good knowledge of Excel, as well as good skills in English and Swedish, in both writing and speaking.
