We believe in science having a crucial role to play in how we lead our sustainability agenda. For biodiversity, there is today not one globally agreed way to assess or measure the different levels of biodiversity and the impact that business actions have on them.
Right now, we are looking for a Strategic Business Analyst – Biodiversity (1 year assignment) to assess biodiversity impact across the IKEA value chain. With your personality, data expertise, and analytical skills you will create the starting point for creating real impacts in our business and enable us to reach our sustainability ambitions.
Job Description
As Strategic Business Analyst - Biodiversity, your responsibility is to keep the overall assessment of impact in the IKEA value chain together. This by choosing methods to use, gathering relevant internal and/or external data and make the impact analysis for selected parts of the value chain. It is also to convey the methods used and the results retrieved in a way that enables others within the organisation to use it, thereby enabling needed decision making and action. It is also to be cross-cutting across different agendas within IKEA, such as the circular, climate and water agenda, securing efficient and aligned use of data as well as avoiding sub-optimisation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead the evaluation of assessment and impact measurement tools for biodiversity to set which to use within IKEA.
Lead the identification and gathering of internal and external data to be used in impact assessments and measurements for biodiversity.
Lead the biodiversity impact assessment and measurement of prioritised parts of the IKEA value chain, using the Science Based Targets for Nature initial guidance as a starting point.
Initiate, facilitate and lead potential collaborative work with external actors
Provide subject-matter expertise and support on biodiversity when needed within the organisation.
Collaborate with other functions inside the company to raise awareness of the work and to integrate biodiversity-related data into other solutions and tools.
Lead and coordinate the analytical biodiversity reporting for the annual IKEA Sustainability report to secure process with timely delivery of high quality.
Where IKEA solution landscape do not meet the needs of business, develop interim solutions to meet needs and provide proof-of-concepts for later integration into IKEA solution landscape.
You will be placed in the Sustainability Development team supporting Core Business Range and Core Business Supply.
Qualifications
We are looking for an analytics enthusiast with a passion for creating a positive impact on people and planet who enjoys working in an environment where from time-to-time there are more questions than answers.
We believe that you have outstanding analytical skills in data and complex systems and with your holistic approach as well as an eye for detail you are able to propose fact-based actions and structure perspectives. You are able to slice and translate multipart matters into simple and practical solutions and examples in a business context and you can present data in a simple and accessible way for the many. You are solution oriented and capable of finding ways forward when and where necessary system support or material data are not available. You are also able to work in a changing environment. You are a team player, and you enjoy working together with many different stakeholders, outside as well as inside IKEA, but are also able to move things on your own. With your indirect leadership skills and enthusiasm to move things forward, you lead and influence and develop the competence of our organization.
You also have proven work experience within business development and successful track record in driving business change. You are fluent in both written and spoken English as well as possessing Microsoft Office skills, e.g. Excel. As biodiversity is complex topic, any experience and knowledge within the area are greatly beneficiary but not a requirement.
