We are now recruiting for a Strategic Category Manager, a role that reports directly into the Global Procurement Director Raw Material. The role holder will occasionally travel internationally and we ideally want to place this role at our HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In this role you will:
Plan and direct purchasing activities to ensure optimum pricing, quality, delivery, and service, in order to maximize the purchasing power of the company.
Participate in product development projects and drive the sourcing related activities related hereto.
Develop strategies for assigned commodities in accordance with the sourcing process, and thereby support the company objectives and strategies.
Secure the supply of raw materials and/or products from key suppliers through partnership relations.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop sourcing strategies and programs for assigned categories
Monitor the market and industry trends
Perform supplier evaluations to ensure that current and potential suppliers fulfill quality and environmental standards, code of conduct and that required capacity is available.
Initiate and determine contractual documents with high complexity and value
Apply effective negotiation techniques
Sign commercial contracts for assigned areas in order to formalize the mutual agreement.
Participate in new product development and/or product care project teams to support the scope of the project, to drive the sourcing related activities related hereto and to ensure that the procurement strategy is maintained.
Identify purchasing opportunities to consolidate and leverage the annual purchases.
Lead cross-functional Sourcing category teams with the responsibility to drive cost reduction, make/buy analysis, quality and delivery performance, reduction of inventory and other applicable key performance areas.
Liaise with our manufacturing sites and the suppliers in the resolution of significant delivery-, quality-, or other business issues in order to fulfil the objectives and to maintain and improve relations between our company and the suppliers.
Ensure the adherence of the company’s ethical, behavioral and quality principles and standards throughout the sourcing and supply processes.
Key Decisions:
Determine appropriate strategies for assigned categories based on procurement and divisional strategies.
Decide the supply structure for assigned areas.
Evaluate and approve source from suppliers.
Negotiate and decide optimal supply agreements
Resolve operational issues between MHC and the suppliers
Decide if a supplier shall be discontinued or maintained
Capabilities, Qualifications & Experience:
Sourcing strategy formulation and implementation
Analytical and cost calculation skills
Negotiation skills
Supplier management
Category management
Commercial agreements & policies knowledge
Academic business degree, minimum bachelor.
Relevant international purchasing experience 5 years.
