Strategic Logistics Manager

The Construction segment within Sandvik Mining and Construction (SMC) has grown significantly and is expected to continue its growth.Much of this growth has come from increased international business in all of the main product lines.To support this international growth the Construction segment is expanding its international network of assembly centers and will also increasingly be purchasing from an international supplier network - which in turn places more demands on increased international logistics coordination.Based on the above background, Construction needs to proactively improve both Production units' and Assembly centers' inbound and outbound distribution.The units also need a knowledgeable speaking partner to represent Construction in the discussions with our outsourcing partner SMC logistics, in how to improve the availability issues for our customers and the overall logistics performance.Key performance areas As the Strategic Logistics Manager your main tasks are to work with the Construction Supply team to understand the international inbound and outbound logistics flow needs, and suggest how to optimize these flows - both to increase speed and logistics reliability of delivery as well as reduce costs.You will work together with Supply teams and Regions to optimize the finished goods inventory levels both for equipment and tools as well as consumables.You will: - Be the global speaking partner for Construction regarding logistics issues.- Review, consolidate and communicate the delivery supply needs to SMC logistics from a Construction point of view.- Review the SMC logistics (and inventory) management efficiency, report and highlight progress and areas for improvements.- Proactively work with the other SMC segments to ensure that the Construction logistics needs are coordinated with the needs of the other segments, and participate in and advise on key logistics improvement projects, e.g., forecasting.- Ensure that the Construction teams work actively with the focus to improve the logistics operations.- Lead and drive active logistics benchmarking and highlight how and where to improve our performance.The Strategic Logistics Manager reports to the Construction Aftermarket VP and the Construction Supply VP and liaises with the Construction team and SMC logistics.Your profile As our ideal candidate you should have a university degree in engineering or business, and several years of experience from similar areas.We believe that you are a result-oriented and highly analytical team player with good understanding of logistics and our customer needs.In addition you should have well-developed communications and leadership skills with the ability to motivate people in a global network.It is important that you have a strong commercial awareness and ability to get things done in an international matrix organization.It is essential that you are fluent in English, both written and verbal.
