Sustainable Power is a function within Strategic Product Planning. We support Strategic Product Planning and Volvo Group Trucks Technology with Product Plans and strategies focusing a wide range of technology areas such as internal combustion engines, battery electric solutions, fuel cell solutions, and propulsion systems. Needless to say, these interesting areas are of high importance for a successful journey towards 100% fossil free in 2040.
We are now reinforcing our team with a Strategic Product Planner, Energy Storage Systems.
The Position
Volvo Group is deeply committed to and engaged in the global roll out of electric vehicles and has already taken a leading position. This means that the number of customer applications are constantly increasing and along with it the size and significance of the battery business. Coordination and optimization become strategically important.
Always with a focus on what’s best for our customers, your role is to support the Volvo Group to navigate among numerous opportunities represented by e.g. existing and future cell technologies, battery architectures and intelligent software solutions. It is also requested that the way forward considers sustainability, Group synergies, production & supply, local content requirements and legislation. Complex? Yes. Exiting? Truly! And above all – super important.
A clear deliverable is to develop the battery product plan and supporting the long-term volume forecasts. You will also initiate activities and write development prerequisites. You will be working closely with the Energy Storage System (ESS) engineering department and specialists but need also to develop an extensive network with Vehicle Engineering and stakeholder representatives. You should be prepared to present your results at all levels of the company.
Your home-office is in Gothenburg, Sweden. The role includes occasional travelling.
Who are you?
You should be capable of grasping the complexity of the subject and transforming it to clear actionable directions. Therefore, traits as being analytical and structured as well as being an effective and inspiring communicator are highly valued. Some experience from platform/modularization work is useful and you should be comfortable with conducting business case studies. Of course, you will need to have or develop a deep understanding of the technologies involved.
In this role you need input from many different areas, why you need to exhibit excellent networking skills. You always strive to be fact-based, however when managing future uncertainties, you must also have the courage at some point to put the stick in the ground and be decisive. You have a winning attitude always prepared to push the targets to secure products in the technology forefront.
You do not have direct reports on your own, but you are nevertheless in a leading position, expected to strongly influence on our future
You hold a Bachelor or Master degree education. Experience from the battery industry is a merit
