Let us tell you about our job

Working as an experienced strategic purchaser or as we call it, Sourcing Manager, means that you are responsible for purchasing products, components, and projects. But that you already know, right? Let us instead focus on how we experience our job, to give you a true image of how it is to be a Strategic Purchaser at Scania. 

We work strategically with the business; developing and implementing purchasing strategies and activities. Yep, business really interests us and we follow industries and news to be updated! We also build a lot of relationships and have a really social environment. This is because we work cross-functionally with different contacts in other departments and also externally together within Traton, Volkswagen, and suppliers. Furthermore, we feel that we have a responsibility and can take decisions, but at the same time, we have support from our managers. Last, but not least, we have diversity in our group and we develop all the time! 

Just to give you a short view of your future work tasks, it could look like this:


• Prepare and lead negotiations with suppliers and negotiate contracts  
• Manage and develop the supplier base  
• Secure cost optimizations  
• Administrative tasks such as ordering and issuing orders, RFQ, updating price lists, and more
• Give presentations in various purchasing forums

We also see that you have: 


• A few years of experience as an operational or strategic purchaser 
• An academic or other relevant education is an advantage 
• Fluent knowledge of English in speech and writing
• Swedish is a merit 
• Previous experience in a global purchasing organization is an advantage
