At Sandvik Coromant and the Purchasing department in Gimo, we’re now looking for a communicative and collaborative Strategic Purchaser to join our hybrid procurement organization! At our department, we’re responsible for indirect purchasing in Sweden. We work together with other companies throughout Sandvik, and our team consists of tactical, strategic and operational purchasers spread across our three sites in Gimo, Stockholm, and Sandviken.
About the job
In this dynamic position, you combine responsibility for managing procurement activities for our projects and strategic sourcing of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) goods. You conduct market research and supplier evaluations to identify potential suppliers and contractors capable of meeting project-specific needs and furthermore, monitor market trends and changes relevant to the MRO category to ensure opportunities for cost savings.
With your acquired expertise within the MRO category, you develop as well as execute procurement strategies for the MRO category and drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, supplier consolidation and process improvements. As part of the project team, you prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotations) to suppliers, ensuring clear communication of project specifications and requirements. You also implement and maintain supplier performance measurements to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
You make extensive collaborative efforts with different stakeholders such as:
Project managers and cross-functional teams – to understand project requirements and develop procurement plans
Internal stakeholders – to understand their MRO requirements to implement standardization and rationalization of MRO products
Suppliers – to handle proposals, negotiations and implementation of contracts, as well as preparing and issuing RFQs (Request for Quotations)
Operative buyers – to ensure timely delivery of goods and services


This position requires you to be present at least 50% of your time on site in Stockhom or Gimo, in a combination of commuting between our sites.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, or a related field – while having a master’s degree or professional certification is a plus. You have experience in project procurement, strategic purchasing and familiarity with project management methodologies, with the added ability of aligning procurement activities with project timelines and milestones. You’re knowledgeable of procurement processes and strategies as well as contract and supplier relationship management. You have a track record of consolidation projects and best practices within the MRO category. You're also skillful in Office 365 particularly in excel while Power BI is a plus. This position calls for skills in English and Swedish, in both written and verbal form.
As a person, you’re a true negotiator with business acumen, who’s highly communicative and outgoing – you put a lot of emphasis on creating meaningful relationships. You’re independent, result-oriented, and analytical with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decision-making.
