Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. The purchasing team for Sheet metal, part of the Chassis, is now in a fascinating phase as the transport industry develops faster than ever. To meet this, we are looking for a new colleague and star to our team.

Responsibility

As a strategic purchaser, you are responsible for your segment where you plan, implement and manage the strategy for our business and your suppliers to achieve set goals. As a strategic buyer, the focus is on cost and delivery, but also quality, technology, and sustainability.

The tasks vary and from technical details to overall commercial negotiations, from analyses to assumptions, and from quick solutions to urgent problems to long-term strategic decisions.  Examples of work tasks can be seen below.


• Plan and implement a strategy for your segment and your suppliers
• Prepare and lead negotiations
• Manage and develop supplier contacts  
• Work actively with cost optimization
• Give presentations to various purchasing forums

Who are you

You should have a strong commercial interest, analytical thinking, and the ability to create or see business opportunities when they are given. You are not afraid to challenge both internal stakeholders and suppliers for even better business. You should enjoy working in a fast-moving environment and handle several purchases and tasks at the same time, have a positive approach to the challenges and thus also spread positive energy to the surroundings. You should be able to work both independently and within a team.  We appreciate if you have: 


• University degree in economics or technology.  
• Previous experience in purchasing, sales, production technology, logistics, project management, or other relevant fields. 
• Fluent in both speech and writing in English.

We are a team with great team spirit, consisting of 9 buyers with a mix of ages, gender, and nationality. We support each other in the team and believe in a climate where you can be yourself, we believe that diversity is a success factor and we treat everyone equally and with respect.  
 
The team is located and works from Scania's purchasing office in Södertälje, but there is also the flexibility to work from home on certain days of the week. As the manager of the Sheet metal group, I put a lot of energy and time into having employees who come in and leave the office with a big smile and energy, to cope with the challenges both at work and privately. I am a leader who wants to guide, support, and motivates employees to achieve the required goals within my team. I believe that all employees should have the opportunity to take responsibility for their own work.  

Contact with our suppliers is very important as well as cooperation with the other brands within TRATON. Meeting and communication is a keys to a successful collaboration and the global playing field offers some challenges and opportunities.
