Strategic Purchaser - Indirect Purchasing Maintenance Repair and Operations

At Indirect Purchasing Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) we purchases supplies, spare parts and maintenance services to our factories and R&D pilot plant in Sweden and Belgium. This includes articles such as personal protection, cutting tools, hand tools, abrasives and spare parts for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic machinery and equipment. We maintain and develop the supplier base, negotiates agreements and lay strategies for purchasing and commercial arrangements. The team consists of seven people, each responsible for their own commodity.
As a Strategic Purchaser within MRO you will be an important participant in sourcing processes to our car plants in Europe. You are responsible for commodity business plans and supply base development in order to improve the commercial performance and being the driving force to continuously contribute to strategic, tactical and commercial improvement. The suppliers are global and the stakeholders are situated in both Sweden and Belgium. You will also cooperate with the Indirect Purchasing buyers in China and US to find the best global sourcing synergies. It is therefore important that you have a good holistic understanding, a strategic view and ability to cooperate in an international environment.
Main responsibilities
* Obtain best commercial outcome for Volvo Car Group specific to your commodities
* Develop global sourcing synergies and best practices for purchasing
* Participate and negotiate in major RFQs
* Have the holistic view of the MRO commodity
* Strive to attain constant improvements and increase efficiency by e.g. establishing a supplier base in accordance to Volvo Car Group overall strategies
* Define and maintain Commodity Business Plan on assigned global commodities, including implementation and follow-up
* Develop relationships with global key suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality and delivery
* Ensure the market intelligence and the technical trends for concerned commodities
* Validate new supplier introduction
* Lead special task force assignments
Required qualifications
* B.Sc in Economics or Engineering
* Experience from working in a strategic purchasing role or previous experience from leading projects, preferably with indirect purchasing
* Experience from negotiations in global organisations with focus on commercial targets
* Driver's license, B-level
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Experience from working within the automotive industry is meritorious

* Strong business acumen combined with high integrity
* Strategic understanding and the ability to put into practice
* Strong ability for team work and leadership skills
* Ability to lead and complete tasks independently
* Confidence to act in an international environment
* Driven and diplomatic with a positive mind-set
