At Epidemic Sound we are reinventing the music industry. Our carefully curated catalog, with over 35,000 tracks, is tailored for storytellers, streaming services, and in-store soundtracks. Our customer base covers everyone from a Youtube hobbyist soundtracking their cooking demonstration videos, all the way up to major tv/movie studios or stream platforms looking for music and sound effects for their productions. 2022 will also mark the first release of our product in a language other than English, which opens up half a world of untapped potential customers. All this is to say, Epidemic Sound’s UX research team is scaling rapidly to enable us to arm our product teams and the organization with the insights it needs to make loved products that enable our customers to soundtrack their stories no matter who or where they are.
As part of our 2022 investments in research, we are looking for a Strategic Research Lead to join our Experience Design and Research team in Stockholm, HQ.
How you will make an impact
While our UX research team will focus on horizon-1 opportunities with multidisciplinary product development stakeholders; your role as Strategic Research Lead is to focus on Horizon 2 strategic questions with the main stakeholders being the executive leadership team. Your role should be finding the right problems we should be solving for, so that the executive team can make informed strategic decisions on pursuing those opportunities or not.
Your role will be pivotal in helping Epidemic Sound to focus on the right problems to solve based on evidence, thus allowing us to focus on fewer projects delivered with higher quality.
More specifically, you will:
- In partnership with the Director of Research, set up any models, tools or processes required to establish and potentially scale a Strategic Research Practice alongside our UX research practice.
- Design, develop and guide quantitative and qualitative research and contextual design investigations to explore opportunities at the horizon-2
- Conduct investigations that help strategically frame, validate or challenge other forms of research
- Drive future visioning by curating relevant insights, trends and signals to formulate future scenarios, implications and opportunities that are plausible and probable and challenge the status quo
- Bring your research and creative synthesis to life through stories, customer journeys, insight-opportunity frameworks, ecosystem maps and scenarios
- Champion Human-Centered Design across Epidemic Sound
Collaborative design and development:
- Drive the design and facilitation of co-creation sessions as well as immersive workshops (in-person as well as virtual) and bring them to life through strong written narratives leveraging your immersive, story-telling skills
- Converge innovative ideas based on research insights and explore commercial viability
- Communicate design ideas using techniques, including product concepts, service models, customer journeys, ecosystem maps etc
Commercialization:
- Observe and engage audiences within the markets of interest to test commercialization assumptions for audience capture and scaling
- Partner with cross-disciplinary internal stakeholders such as business strategists, product managers, technologists and growth specialists to ensure that new opportunities are set to deliver strategic value in line with design intent
We believe you have:
- Extensive experience in relevant field with 5+ years leading creative projects to successful completion
- An outstanding portfolio of a diverse range of projects demonstrating your approach to strategic research, future visioning, creative synthesis, storytelling skills and strategy development
- Experience leading qualitative (ethnographic) and quantitative research, divergent exploration, conceptual development, design strategy
- Solid track record in delivering to Executive teams and persuading them to pursue you recommendations
- Experience in Behavior design methodologies, marketing content strategy and/or operations process design, data + hybrid quant/qual skills is a plus
- Experience working in-house for a digital product company, in an agency driving digital transformation work, or a combination of the above
- Bachelor’s degree in research, design, business, psychology, strategy, or another relevant field
