ValueOne is looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager for sourcing of mechanical components for our customer in Stockholm. The assignment is to start immediately and lasts for about 4 months.
The role
In the role as Strategic Sourcing Manager you will be responsible for procurement activities regarding mechanical components such as castings, machined parts (turned and milled) but also fasteners, packaging and wiring from the point of customer award through end of production. You work in close cooperation with the Commodity Manager to provide input to and execute global commodity strategy. This means that you will define current and future global needs for specific commodity groupings and evaluate the nature of market supply along with process and technology trends. The position involves interaction with internal stakeholders to drive standardization and strategy execution. 25% travel is included in the role.
Main tasks:
Source material requirements to the required specification at a competitive best landed cost terms and in accordance with program targets.Participate in APQP / PPAP activities and drive suppliers towards on time product launch.Ensure no disruption of material supply that will result in a production stoppage. Expedite orders to ensure on-time deliveries as needed. Negotiate supplier compensation for non-performance (when supplier is at fault).Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.Manage prices: Define initial pricing and ensure that it is accurately reflected in ERP systems. Resolve or escalate changes in price due to supplier. Calculate lowest total cost on quantity/price tradeoffs and work with Planners to execute this.Manage Tooling contracts.Manage prototype purchases Evaluate and participate in the vendor qualification process.ERP System database maintenance and integrity.Contract review and negotiationLiaise with suppliers both on and off site with a view to improving supplier performance.Engage and influence stakeholders in Procurement and cross-functionally.
Experience and competence
The role demands a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field and a minimum of five years of global project management experience within strategic or project sourcing or supplier development in an international environment. Experience from supply chain management or similar is a must. Preferably you have experience with mechanical components (plastics, metal). The role also requires flexibility to work with stakeholders in different time-zones (Asia, North America), as well as working remotely. Further, you are able to negotiate on senior levels and are used to work in global project teams.
Since the role requires stakeholder contacts on an international level excellent communication skills in English is needed for the position as well as strong stakeholder management skills. In addition you need to be proficient in MS Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills together with ability to create and deliver clear, persuasive presentations are prerequisits for the role.
