Your main responsibilities as Strategy Advisor
You will join the Market Insights team and aid decision making at the highest level in Vattenfall by developing decision support tools and providing strategic insights on the energy Nordic energy system. As a strategy Advisor you will drive scenario analysis and develop Vattenfall’s narrative of the energy market. You will play a key role translating scenario analysis and market insights into high level communication and decision making material.


Your fundamental analysis, insights and recommendations will shape Vattenfall’s view on the long term development of the Nordic energy market and support Vattenfall investment decisions. Working in an Agile, cross functional team, you will collaborate with internal analytical teams, experts throughout Vattenfall and regularly with external consultants to improve the credibility of our work.
It will be your responsibility to develop assumptions and outlook price scenarios that feed into forecasting models which create scenarios and are used in strategic decision making, portfolio analyses, strategic projects, business development projects and market entrance studies across Vattenfall.


You will get the opportunity to deepen and apply your understanding of the Nordic power market, EU Market Design and political developments as you support Vattenfall pursuing fossil free ambitions.



Your qualifications as Strategy Advisor
• You are ambitious, curious and have high aspirations to make an impact on a climate smarter world
• You have proven experience in how the Nordic energy system works and are interested in being a thought leader in demand, supply, transmission, policy in the Nordics with an expanding network
• 3+ years’ experience at a utility, the European Commission, European Parliament, (European) regulatory body, think tank, institution or a consultancy working on Nordic energy system topics
• University degree that has given you an appreciation for analysing and solving complex data sets and problems. Masters or PhD preferred
• You have the ability to translate market, political and technological developments into economic scenarios and strategic hypothesis
• Proven experience of leading initiatives and projects
• A people person who can connect easily with analysts, top management and external experts
• Excel and PowerPoint have no secrets to you, you are precise and can perform deep analysis but can also change level and develop creative and attractive presentations to support decision making
• You have strong all round communication skills in English, can story tell and talk to larger audiences
• Agile mind set and knowledge of agile principles

Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) exist to accelerate Vattenfall’s transition towards its goal, fossil free living within one generation. There are four functions in S&BD; Market Insights develop scenarios, provide a deep understanding of main energy industry trends; Group Strategy, are responsible for ensuring Vattenfall is a leader in the energy transition and a thriving business today and in the future; Business Development, find and realize new business opportunities that will enable fossil-free living in one generation and; Asset Owner Support, focus on internal collaboration and creating value for Vattenfall’s asset owning businesses.
