Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.) is a new entity within the Volvo Group with the mission to offer transport and material handling solutions never seen before. Together we will work on autonomous solutions that will challenge conventions and take us to the future. With entirely new business models and advanced technology we will meet and exceed expectations from customers and contributing to a society that we want to live in. There’s about 300 of us and together we form a team that is stronger than the sum of its parts and is ready to tackle the big challenges we have ahead of us.


We are currently building up our Strategy team which means you will get the chance to be a part of developing this new business and build and shape our team for the future. You will have a highly visible role that reports directly to the Head of Strategy and will work closely and at a high level of confidentiality with the President of V.A.S. You provide a crucial function our company – initiating, collaborating, and managing our materials and agenda.


Role description
As our new Strategy and Business development manager you will:


• Support strategy development. In conjunction with the team, support development of long-term and short-term strategies to advance the V.A.S. positioning in the marketplace, and work with key stakeholders across the company to continuously enhance process for strategy development and strategic planning.


• Drive implementation of key initiatives. Partner with key functions to drive successful execution and implementation of strategic priorities. Collaborate with business and functional leaders to ensure seamless hand-off of strategic initiatives.


• Support opportunity prioritization. Collaborate with the Commercial and Technology teams to build follow-up on corporate-level priorities. Analyze options, create scenario and build recommendations that support business decisions.


• Execution of partnerships. Lead the project management of selected partnerships and/or customer projects to ensure successful outcomes for potential commercial and strategic partnerships, collaborations, etc. Set the framework for, and construct innovative, value-creating opportunities, while interfacing with cross-functional team members such as Legal, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and R&D.


• Drive Governance. Plan and manage the V.A.S. Executive Management Team governance towards senior executives’ boards in Volvo Group like Business Review Meetings and AB Volvo Executive Board. Elevate the Governance Structure (incl. preparation process) and collaborate with communication to continuously elevate the cross-functional cooperation and make adjustments needed in line with changing environment. Closely collaborate, with the other Strategy Area within Volvo Group, to secure consistency between governance and strategic vision as well as get relevant support.

The Strategy and Business Development Manager will need to be skilled in managing multiple priorities, succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and provide immediate contribution


Required knowledge and experience
You have a university degree in finance, engineering, or commercial fields. A solid experience (preferably in heavy manufacturing or commercial operations) is an asset, however your competence and attitude are most important. Having 5-10 years of experience of strategy- and business development roles, management consulting, or equivalent is seen as an asset. You have a proven track record as a business partner and strong overall business knowledge.
