Strategy Associate

Strategy Associate

Arbetsbeskrivning

Sandvik Machining Solutions (SMS) is on an exciting growth journey and are now looking for a Strategy Associate to play a central role in paving the way for the success, as we further develop and execute our strategy – which combines strong organic growth with significant M&A activities and new digital offerings. This is a prime platform for further developing your industry experience and business insight.
Joining our experienced team of industry experts, ex top-tier management consultants and bankers, you’ll gain extraordinary insights and exposure to our business and its ambitious leaders. We welcome you to an open, agile and action-oriented environment, where we set the bar high and achieve our goals together.
Your responsibility
Together with our team, you contribute to strategic initiatives and top priority projects within SMS and our divisions, working closely with management and professionals.

As part of operationalizing our strategy, you assist in planning and structuring initiatives and action areas, developing decision-ready business cases, and proposing, collecting and assessing milestones and metrics for execution. By being an active contributor in your team and across functions, you enable open and effective collaboration towards joint objectives.
You also produce regular updates on our position and performance versus the industry and competitors – tracking and forecasting market development, benchmarking competitor performance, and conducting trend and situation analyses. In support of strategic initiatives and M&A projects, you prepare analyses and contribute to drawing conclusions on business implications, strategic choices and areas of action.
Your mission also includes:
Collecting, compiling, verifying, and analyzing information about potential business partners, new markets, products, services and other business opportunities to provide senior management with information for making strategic and operational decisions.
Preparing accurate documents and materials, such as reports, presentations and information packages for meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners.
Building tools and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of our business intelligence and strategy work.

The location for this role is flexible, although presence at our site in Stockholm or Sandviken is encouraged. Some international travel is included.
You…
…hold a relevant degree such as an MSc in Business or Engineering, or MBA, combined with experience of working with strategy and business development at a leading consulting firm or industrial company – where you’ve developed a solid strategy and analytics toolkit for yourself. You have experience of participating in complex, analytically and conceptually demanding strategy projects under tight time constraints as well as effectively collaborating in multi-cultural and cross-functional settings. It’s a plus if you have an understanding of the manufacturing and industrial sectors, and a familiarity with digital businesses. As we operate in a global organization you need excellent English skills, both verbally and written, while other language skills, especially Swedish, are advantageous.
As a self-starter and initiative taker, you’re not afraid of breaking new grounds and you have the ability to quickly move between the big picture, the details and the concrete actions. Using your solid analytical and presentation skills, you easily create top quality material and documents and deliver them on time. You’re a true team player with respect for people, driven by succeeding together, and you put the common best interest first. With excellent communication skills and a strong sense of integrity, you achieve trust and results through openness and fair play.
