The Surface Division (SRD) develops, manufactures and markets rock and exploration drilling equipment. A high focus area at Epiroc is development of intelligent machines with more automation, connectivity, energy efficiency and hybridization. We are now looking for a dedicated mechanical calculation engineer to strengthen our Mechanical Design team.
Your mission
As a Mechanical Calculation Engineer at SRD you will have an important role in the mechanical design group. Your work will be to design, analyze and develop our products. You will have the opportunity to work in new development projects but also with existing products where we focus on small and effective improvements.
Your work is often in projects where FEM calculation, mechanical design, weld and screw joint dimensioning, strength and fatigue calculations and hand calculations are some of the core areas to manage. Internal cross functional contacts are essential as well as external contacts with supplier and others. The work itself will be very exciting and challenging with a variety of tasks with good opportunities for personal development. Your profile
You have a genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn more about the products  you are working with. You are innovative, willing to take responsibility and have the ability to work independently. To succeed and enjoy the challenges in this role you should have a structured and analytical approach where you combine theory and practice. As a person you are self-propelled, responsible and have the ability to take initiative. Furthermore, you enjoy teamwork and a collaborative, multicultural environment where communication is key.
You have a university degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent knowledge developed through working experience. We believe you have at least a few years of experience in FEA, mechanical design and calculations or similar to be successful in this role. You have at least three years of experience from FEM-calculation and it’s meritorious if you are familiar with ANSYS Workbench.
You should also have knowledge in general machine design, machine element dimensioning such as screw and weld attachments. You need skills in weld technology, manufacturing methods and materials since these are common areas of the development work. It is also a plus if you have experience from working with weld evaluation and the IIW methodology. Communication and report writing will mostly take place in English why it’s necessary that your communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are excellent. Skills in Swedish are beneficial.
