The role

We need to strengthen our Propulsion team with a Structure CAE Engineer. You will network between CAE and design to strive to develop a CAE-led design of electrified powertrains. Your work will be key to create the right prerequisites for an outstanding durability performance of our products. As an experienced CAE Engineer, you will take an active part in system development in the field of durability. We aim to develop our CAE work with the following mindset: IDENTIFY, EXPLAIN AND IMPROVE. In other words, we pursue to develop a deep understanding of the physics involved in fatigue phenomena in order to be able to explain and ultimately provide design suggestions to achieve outstanding products.

The development of CAE work is carried out in collaboration with design teams therefore the ability to present your ideas and thoughts in a clear and structured way is of paramount importance in this position. As a Structure CAE Engineer, you will be based in Lindholmen, Gothenburg.

Responsibilities and tasks

- Support project requests related to CAE work related to strength, durability and stiffness of EDU (Electric Drive Unit) and its components (transmission, electric machine and inverter)
- Perform structural and fatigue analyses including parametric studies of EDU’s main sub-systems (transmission, electric machine and inverter) and their components
- Perform stiffness analysis of EDU’s main sub-systems (transmission, electric machine and inverter) and their components
- Through simulations: Identify & Explain mechanics/physics behind different phenomena related to durability of EDU’s main sub-systems (transmission, electric machine and inverter) and their components
- Provide advice on potential design improvements to avoid/mitigate durability issues
- Drive the development/creation of simulation methodologies for the durability of EDU’s main sub-systems (transmission, electric machine and inverter) and their components
- Advice on durability test procedures to correlate CAE models both in the rig and in vehicle
- Advice the organization on durability related topics like requirement specifications
- Advice/Lead focus/task force groups related to durability of EDU’s main sub-systems (transmission, electric machine and inverter) and their components


Required Experience

- Extensive experience with structural and fatigue simulations of machine systems and components (at least 10 years of experience)
- Extensive experience with ABAQUS
- Experience with fatigue analysis of machines is of great advantage
- Experience with CAD work is of great advantage
- Experience of working cross functionally and globally
- Experience with Agile way of working is a merit
- Experience with Powertrain development is a merit
