Title: Learning Environment Officer (LEO)
We have a vacancy for the position of Learning Environment Officer at IES Kista. The role involves responsibility for the support of teachers and students in our vibrant and diverse 4-9 school located in the Kista area through the following areas:
- Support learning in the classroom and a positive social climate in the hallways through individual support for key students as directed by the Pastoral Coordinator.
- Support teachers with the implementation and management of the consequences ladder through helping students make positive choices.
- Communicate with Student Care leaders of recurring issues among students or key locations of conflict or disruption in the corridors through the Student Behaviour Coordinator.
- Detect, stop and document any bullying, discrimination or harassment seen in the school.
- Be a presence in corridors at strategic times of the day to assist a calm area.
- Build relationships with all students, but most importantly, with key students in need of behavioural and social support.
- Supporting teachers, other staff members and students by contributing to the development of a calm work environment.
- Performing small day to day tasks regarding student well being and social support such as:
- Noticing changes in social groups and hierarchy among the student body, communicating these to Student Care leaders and Mentors.
- Notice, document and communicate damages to school property and or individual property.
- Remind and help students to respect the school environment.
- Following up on students that display challenges in a social or learning environment context:
- Take on one-to-one supervision of students as directed by the SLT and Behaviour Support Coordinator.
- Be part of ‘Walk to Transport’ and “Welcome to School” programmes. scheduled or directed by SLT or the Behaviour Support Coordinator.
- Detect and escort students who are reluctant to attend lessons to the classroom and be proactive in ensuring they remain in class.
- Take part in meetings with certain students and parents when requested.
- Be a social role model for students by modelling positive behaviour and attitudes.
- To take sub-lessons when necessary.
- Any other reasonable task as directed by the PrincipalRequirements:
This position would be ideally suited to a person with a Socialpedagog background or other relevant experience working with young people.
Working competence in Swedish and English is beneficial for this role.
