Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group ("friskola") with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is through both Swedish and English, with English the language of the corridors. Internationella Engelska Skolan in Årsta opened in 2017 and the school will be at capacity in 2020 - 21 with over 750 students . At IES our ethos is the foundation of how we perform and we are proud to have schools in Sweden which offer students bilingualism, high academic expectations and a safe and orderly environment. Our main goals are for students to feel safe and be challenged, and we aim to continue to develop a high achieving school with all students. If you want to be part of our successful development we are looking for a full time student assistant to work with a grade 4 student starting in August 2020.
Required competencies and desired qualifications/experiences
The main duties of the Student Assistant are:
- Focus on one year 4 student with movement challenges, during his school days
- Building positive relationships with the student
- Supporting the student with his everyday activities;
- Adjusting his equipment to each lesson
- Lunch break, locker room support, toilet break
- Proving movement breaks during lessons
- Communication between parents, teachers, student and external agencies
- Ensure that the student understands and completes work in class
- Encouraging a calm, safe orderly environment at all times
- Promote loyalty to the vision and values of the school
Skills
- Experience of working well with others or as part of a team
- Native Swedish and/or English (both preferable)
- Basic understanding of student care and pedagogic
- Training or equivalent of students with special needs
