Student thesis: Carbon Footprint Evaluation of Design Solutions.
A reduction of carbon footprint of construction machines is needed to meet the goals in the Science Based Targets initiative.
The largest part of the carbon footprint for a construction equipment typically comes from the user phase. However, with the development of alternative fuels and electrification of such machine, it becomes more important to also look at the production phase, where material selection and energy consumption typically influence the results.
The target of the thesis is, based on a design module of a machine under development, to find methods to:
Understand how a design solution influence carbon footprint during production phase
Understand how concept alternatives can be evaluated against each other
Refine process to work with and document carbon footprint of design solutions

Suitable Background: Mechanical engineering
Thesis Level: Master or Bachelor
Language: Swedish/English
