Sudan Representative ?Life & Peace Institute Location Khartoum, Sudan Job reference?SR10?LPI is looking for a candidate for the position of Representative for our peacebuilding and research programme in Sudan.The Life & Peace Institute (LPI) supports and promotes non-violent approaches to conflict transformation through a combination of research and action that entails the strengthening of existing local capacities and enhancing the preconditions for building peace.Main responsibilities: Programme Management: Responsible for reaching LPI?s strategic objectives in Sudan Human Resources Management: Responsible for the effective functioning of the Sudan office and ensuring the respect of internal and country specific HR procedures Financial Management: Responsible for the Sudan programme budget, spending and reporting Political Management (Awareness and Communications): Responsible for implementing a professional and efficient awareness strategy for the Sudan programme and for communicating LPI?s objectives to external stakeholders Detailed Terms of Reference will be shared with short listed candidates. The following qualifications are required for the post holder: Minimum masters degree in management, social science, conflict management or other relevant field Extensive project management experience (5-10 years management, planning, staff development and training skills) from development or peace work Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills Proven cultural sensitivity and flexibility Experience of Participatory Action Research is an advantage Ability to work well and meet dead-lines under pressure Proven capabilities in leadership and staff management Good communication skills Good administrative capacity, including computer literacy Experience of financial management including budget development Excellency in written and spoken English Good skills in writing applications, reporting and maintaining good relations with donors and relevant stakeholders Knowledge of Arabic is an asset Previous experience of working and living in the region, and especially Sudan is an asset The post is based at LPI?s office in Khartoum, but the LPI representative is expected to travel extensively within Sudan.
