Job description
Pfizer Global Engineering (PGE) has established a programme of summer internships which is intended to give interested students the opportunity to work at Pfizer manufacturing sites and gain experience in the industry. During the assignment you will work within Process Engineering and Analytics (PEAs) team and be based at the Strängnäs site. The assignment will focus on developing an operator level bioprocess training/education package and provide training sessions to enhance the bioprocess understanding of the manufacturing process for the operators working within the production of The Bio 7 area. 
During the assignment you will be employed as a consultant at Randstad Life sciences.

Responsibilities
Pfizer is a leading multinational pharmaceutical company with manufacturing facilities all over the world including a long established Biopharma facility in Strängnäs. During the assignment you will work within Process Engineering and Analytics (PEAs) team. The PEAs provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) input to process engineering, process modelling and data analytics support to API, Biologics, Sterile Injectable and Solids process operations throughout the Pfizer manufacturing network. The Strängnäs Bio 7 facility has recently undergone a significant capacity expansion project. This world class manufacturing facility can now deliver batches at a rate of 3,5 batches per week.  However, there are still several challenges associated with delivering at this production rate in a robust manner. Several optimisations have been identified which when implemented will help to ensure a robust production run rate. One of the identified issues is to enhance the bioprocess understanding of the manufacturing process for the many new hires & personnel working in the Bio 7 area.  Armed with a better understanding of the manufacturing process, the manufacturing technicians will be better equipped to anticipate and pre-emp issues before they arise. This will help to avoid stops/delays and reduce deviations all of which will lead to a more robust manufacturing run rate.
It is envisaged that the student will execute training in classroom type settings but also shadow operators during the manufacturing process to explain the process in real time.  Assistance in developing the training/education package will be provided by the local sponsor and site-based process scientists.  A reference “sparring” partner from the manufacturing technicians will also be assigned to provide feedback on the material being developed.  At the end of the assignment a report is to be generated which provides details on the training/education material generated, training session performed and any recommendations on training /education going forward.

The student will also participate in extensive interactive sessions via WebEx/telecon with students based in the US and other European sites. This interaction will include some group projects which can be completed remotely.
The students will present their work to the Leadership Team at the end of the summer.  

Qualifications
• Ongoing university programme within life science or engineering
• Good knowledge about bioprocess and pharmaceutical production
• Good communication skills 
• Ability to communicate and write proficiently in Swedish and English
• Ability to work independently
• Team work
