What you’ll do
The purpose of the central function is to ensure outbound distribution for cars produced in Gent, Torslanda, China and US. This function is critical to manage the timely shipping of cars on a daily basis. We are mandated and have a commitment to deliver on time, on budget with a service mind-set.
The role, Transport Operations Specialist, is operational with responsibility across a wide range of business areas within Volvo Cars and is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
You will monitor and drive carrier transport performance and lead Carrier Management to improve operational performance and interact with stakeholders within Volvo Cars and Importers and drive process improvements. You will also monitor KPI’s of appointed carriers and carry out regular reviews as well as build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and internal stakeholders to facilitate a positive working environment. Finally, will ensure support to colleagues when needed/requested and contribute to a positive team working environment.
Competence and experience are important, but personality and potential are key
We are looking for students who are studying Logistics, Economics or similar. You should be a result-oriented team player with positive mind set, self-motivated, engaged, and willing to take ownership. You enjoy working in a global team and understand customer focus is key. As a colleague you have pro-active approach, and you are willing to walk the extra mile to reach our targets and customer expectations. We believe that you have a strong customer-focus and service mind-set with the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally. This internship requires that you have good communication skills and not afraid to take difficult conversations both internally and externally to secure deliverables. You understand managing multiple complex relationships and general freight forwarding. To fill this role, you need to have good understanding of transportation documentation and export requirements. Finally, you have an ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change.
This thesis work requires you to be on site at our office in Torslanda, Gothenburg.

Duration
Period for summer internship is between 1 June – 31 August 2022, max 10 weeks. Start and end time to be discussed with recruiting manager.
