Summer Trainee at Research and Development Epiroc

The Surface and Exploration Division (SRD) develops, manufactures and markets rock and exploration drilling equipment. The machines are used for various applications in civil and geotechnical engineering, quarries and both surface as well as underground mines worldwide.
Our division has a world leading position among surface drill rigs. Our competitiveness is built on quality and performance in several segments. We build sophisticated machines with advanced systems in various technology areas such as diesel engines, compressor systems, advanced mechanisms etc. The competition within our segment of products is high and demands continuous development and improvements in order to stay ahead.
We are now looking for Summer Trainees to join our team, during approximately 10 weeks, at the Research & Development (R&D) department located in Norra Bro in Örebro. You will get opportunity to deliver real, impactful work within an R&D department.
The mission
This summer trainee work provides candidates with a unique opportunity to experience a challenging and interesting time within an R&D department. You will learn more about our daily work, understand our challenges, get a better product knowledge and a new contacts/network of engineers.
You will get a chance to work within smaller projects and tasks (example update, redraw, design and develop our products) along with a mentor, network with senior colleagues and, toward the end of the period, present your results. You will also participate in different meetings to learn more and develop yourself. This will give you a clear picture about the daily life at our R&D department.
Your profile
You should be a technical student or engineer that has knowledge in mechanical design, machine element dimensioning such as screw and weld attachments. Furthermore, you need some skills in 3D CAD design. Communication and report writing will mostly take place in English why it’s necessary that your English is good, both written and verbal. Skills in Swedish are beneficial.
To enjoy the work, it is important to have interest in technology and a desire to learn more about our products. It is good that you are innovative, willing to take responsibility and have the ability to work both independently and in smaller teams. You must have a structured and analytical approach and the ability to deliver results according to the task given.
As a person you are self-propelled, responsible and like to take initiative. Furthermore, you enjoy teamwork and a collaborative environment where communication is key.
Working from home may be relevant this summer and therefore you should be flexible and able to do so if necessary.
