We are looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Development Engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate Supplier Quality team based in Stockholm, Sweden or Gdansk, Poland. By joining us, you will be a key player in ramping up our future suppliers, supporting our product development, unlocking prototype production in Stockholm, and enabling serial production at our new factory in Gdansk, Poland.
About the job
The Supplier Quality Development Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that Northvolt Systems selects a world class set of suppliers to ensure the right volume and right quality of incoming materials to our factories. This role will work closely with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to take ownership of the supplier base from supplier selection, through set-up, first deliveries and to handoff at stable production.
In this role you will be in charge of quality management for your suppliers, which includes early quality assurance, developing and implementing the supplier quality toolbox, assessing and auditing suppliers and performing problem solving to ensure a flawless transition into serial production.
About the team
You would join a growing team that is based partly in Stockholm, Sweden and partly in Gdansk, Poland. The team today has a broad set of skills and expertise across all aspects of the battery system supply chain, but we are looking for the next addition to the team to bring a depth of expertise specifically within Electronics, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB/A) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) suppliers.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Drive supplier selection using a robust qualification processes under the governance of the Purchasing department
Develop procedures for and execute supplier quality audits, specifically QMS audits and process audits.
Leverage quality tools to drive supplier selection and performance. This requires a deep knowledge of and ability to lead processes such as Production Part Approval (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Problem solving activities.
Oversee the quality control and testing plan of materials and components to determine where to initiate improvement projects
Act as the link between the Northvolt organisation and suppliers
We are looking for a candidate who is analytical and logical with the ability to identify opportunities and drive increased quality through a data driven approach. You should have a strong technical understanding in order to succeed in this role, especially within electronics, PCB design and manufacturing.
You likely have a broad understanding within the quality space across quality control, quality assurance, product quality, process quality, and supplier monitoring, but may also have a background outside of quality.

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have:
A BSc or MSc degree in Physics/Chemistry/Manufacturing/Engineering/Electronics
5+ years of relevant work experience
Excellent English written and oral skills
A track record of successfully leading quality improvements in manufacturing and with suppliers
A willingness to travel
Specific knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. IATF16949, ISO 9001
Bonus points for:
Supplier auditor education, e.g. VDA 6.3
Background in Lean and six sigma
Experience and interest in the manufacturing industry
Experience from a multi-cultural environment
