Northvolt has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join our bold team of Supplier Quality professionals to play a key role in establishing the Northvolt production of Li-ion cells as well as assuring a stable supplier base for Battery Systems, specifically within Electronics, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB/A) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) suppliers.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in enabling supply of the first large scale European Li-ion cells and for complete battery solutions. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. We are continuously building a team of experienced Supplier Quality Engineers with industry background.
You will be in charge of quality management for new and existing suppliers mainly for Northvolt Battery systems’, which includes lead and co-ordinate new part indroductions, early quality assurance, develop and implement the supplier quality toolbox, create and continuous improve supplier quality agreements, assess and audit suppliers as well as problem solving to ensure a flawless transition into our manufacturing and supply of our products.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be an expert in supplier quality management, specifically in Automotive industry, which includes deep knowledge in parts development and qualification, APQP and PPAP, quality systems, quality process design, quality control and assurance, process robustness and monitoring of supplier quality performance etc.
You will play an important role to lead and co-ordinate quality activities with the suppliers and has a deep understanding of working and cooperating cross-functionally in a multicultural environment with Northvolt supply chain, engineering and design, R&D as well as the suppliers.
The candidate should be analytical and logical with an ability to identify opportunities and improvements to drive increased quality through data driven approaches. The candidate should have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role, especially within electronics and PCB design and manufacturing.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead and coordinate new part introduction activities for Northvolt Battery Systems suppliers
Embed the Northvolt Supplier Quality Manual with all Suppliers
Develop and manage Supplier Quality Agreements
Execute supplier audits, specifically QMS audits and process audits
Evaluate and qualify components together with Engineering, R&D and Supply Chain
Ensure all quality requirements are collated from all parts of Northvolt and communicated to suppliers in an effective way
Drive past paced parts development with suppliers, with iterative prototyping and testing together with engineering
Plan and execute parts qualification and supplier PPAP approvals
Set up quality monitoring procedures, evaluate supplier performance and make improvement proposals relating to materials and components
Oversee the Quality Control and testing plan of materials and components, review results and process performance and initiate improvement projects
Act as the link between Northvolt manufacturing organisation and suppliers
Contribute to implementation of electronic quality data sharing with suppliers
Work across many parts of the organisation, collaborating with R&D technical team, Process engineering, Supply Chain, IT & automation and all suppliers.

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
BSc or MSc degree in Physics/Chemistry/Manufacturing/Engineering/Electronics
Specific knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. IATF16949, ISO 9001
Experience of supplier quality management in relevant industry, e.g. Automotive, Electronics, Semiconductors, etc.
Supplier auditor education, e.g. VDA 6.3
Project management skills and a successful track record of leading quality improvements in manufacturing and with suppliers
Experience in developing processes, standards, procedures and documentation to support efficient Supplier Quality Management
Familiar with SPC, FMEA, Quality troubleshooting tools and problem solving methodology
Knowledgeable in Lean and six sigma
Curious, technically educated and preferably with a strong business background
5+ years of relevant work experience
Specific Skills/Abilities
5+ years of experience is a must
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish or Polish is a plus
Willingness to travel

Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
