GLOBAL PURCHASING is looking for a
SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER (SQE)
Located in Gothenburg
Volvo Penta Purchasing has the responsibility to manage sourcing of parts for production and testing for the Volvo Penta business. Setting clear and inspiring goals and following-up the execution of the strategies and activities to achieve the goals is vital to our success.
A Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for all aspects of supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and launch preparedness in support of our manufacturing plants and parts warehouses. The SQE is responsible for assessing the quality systems being used by current and prospective suppliers to ensure that the end products delivered by Volvo Penta meet or exceed customer expectations. The SQE is expected to develop chosen suppliers towards improved quality, efficiency, and cost. The SQE is actively involved in all supplier quality activities from supplier selection, supplier development through on-going performance monitoring.
Your new job
You will be responsible for a portfolio of suppliers within a specific area and be the Volvo Penta representative at suppliers. Perform activities with the purpose to quality assure purchased items by using PPAP and APQP methodology in order to minimize supplier related quality failures is a main part of the job. You will also contribute to assure that the quality requirements are known to our suppliers.
Informing, educating and supporting our suppliers to fulfil the quality expectations and identifying risks and improvement potentials is also a big part of the job together with follow up on actions to close identified gaps
Your contribution
Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills are important for an SQE, just as a strong mentality of continuous improvement and zero defects. The ability to accurately assess suppliers’ weaknesses is crucial, and the desire to provide solutions is a driver for you. Good knowledge of how to use quality tools including PPAP and APQP is required, and you should be able to train our suppliers in quality mindset and tools. You are a good communicator and fluent in English, both speaking and writing. You are part of a team, but able to take responsibility for your own work and deliverables. We believe you have a university degree as a base in your career, but key is experience working, for several years, with supplier quality within the mechanical technology field.

Frequent travelling is expected.
The position is based in Göteborg, Sweden.
