What You Will Be Doing


As a Supply Partner Development Engineer (SPDE) your focus is on developing and improving supplier performance in terms of Capacity and Efficiency all along the Supply Chain. As SPDE you will take part in activities such as capacity evaluations and expansions, as well as performance review, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, diagnosis, and risk management initiatives.


You will be accountable for developing the suppliers selected for the right performance in production (right quality, delivery on time, right cost, good added value...) and supply chain risk (internal and external sources of information).


With your technical background and analytical outlook, you will coordinate improvement actions together with the suppliers.


You create a professional environment in which you encourage suppliers to develop themselves in order to improve their performance.


Who are you?


As a person, we believe that you have an eye for detail but also a good general understanding of the situation, being able to make assessments and focus on the right areas. You should also be a good communicator and a multicultural team player, both internally Volvo but also towards supplier management team since communicating and working with others is what this job is about. You are an expert, agile and able to jump from capacity to cost or to lean manufacturing subjects. Always ready to visit suppliers to see the reality of the situation

What is your background?
University degree (Master); preferably in engineering or several years of technical experience
Experience in manufacturing of electric vehicle batteries, power electronics or other electronic products is seen as meriting
Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Multicultural experience is an asset
Excellent communication and networking skills
Knowledge/skills in capacity, lean and cost management
Experience of working with significant independence
Project management experience
Experience of a structured approach with good analytical skills, logical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities
Strong organizational, time management and continuous improvement skills.
Preventive mindset with leadership to solve problems and to make decision.
Willingness to learn from others and share best practices
Ready to visit suppliers which are in our European playground
