Overview
The Support Services Engineer for Data Centre and Workplace Technology Services is a highly visible role that requires commitment to providing a high-quality service to meet our customers project demands. The role is required to deliver Installations, Moves, Adds, Disposal (IMACD) and Incident Resolution Services within Data Centres, Workplace Technology Areas, and Offices. The duties range from small alterations such as patching and fault finding to performing large-scale equipment and device refreshes including new installs, decommissions, moves, and maintain functions.
Support Services Engineers work on shifts that contribute towards providing support services 24x7x365 and are therefore required to work up to 12hr shifts (Day, Mid-Shift & Night.) Engineers will be required to travel between sites in and around Norway as and when required.
What you will be doling as our Support Services Engineer (SSE):
Installation of equipment racks within technology rooms.
Racking and un-racking of Servers and other Network hardware equipment.
Installation of power distribution units within equipment racks.
Movement of equipment within site locations including stores.
Decommission of equipment within technology rooms.
Decommission of power distribution units within equipment racks.
Removal of redundant infrastructure (empty cabinets, powered off devices, redundant cabling etc.) from the technology rooms and workspaces.
Audit and document desktop configuration, including patching and power, for existing and proposed user locations.
Relocate and install desktop equipment including any peripherals.
Configure, Install and test analogue, digital and VOIP telephone handsets and provide headset support as required.
Connection of network patching to servers and other equipment within racks.
Labelling of hardware (network equipment and servers etc)
Interface with Corporate Real Estate on mechanical and electrical provisioning.
Escort and supervision of activities within technology rooms i.e. 3rd party and other bank group activities.
Technology room inspections.
BMS alarm investigation assistance.
Work order review and assignment.
Housekeeping duties.
Carry out surveys and update drawings and schedules.
Update records for all changes using Asset Management Software when required.
Third party supervision (escort and supervision).
First line support (e.g., reboots on instruction, ID of lights & connections etc.)
Site representation on incident bridges.
Perform Technology component swaps.
RMA administration for faulty swapped out equipment.
Power circuit support (proprietary sub distribution in racks etc.)
What we are looking for in our Support Services Engineer (SSE):
Essential
Experience working in IT environment.
Experience in an ICT Hardware Break Fix, Moves Adds and Changes environment (IT Hardware deployment) Workplace/Office and Data Centres Facilities.
Experience in structured cabling installation, fault finding and testing with fluke test equipment.
Good knowledge of structured cabling standards and cable types (FTP,UTP & Optical Fibre)
Good MS Office Suite experience (Outlook, Excel, Word etc)
Self-starter, organized, detailed-oriented and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Prioritization skills and multitasking ability.
Ability to work under pressure.
Good knowledge of Ticketing Systems.
Good understanding of complex change management and service delivery processes.
Ability to assist with training new starters on all systems, processes and procedures.
Satisfactory completion of all Internal and Client Training Courses.
Drivers license
Preferred but not Essential
Previous training / qualifications within Information Technology field.
Practical experience of Intelligent Infrastructure Management
BICSI Technician Training.
COMPTIA A+
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA DCICN DCICT)
