Fossil free living...in a sustainable way. We are looking for a Sustainability Advisor who will guide us in implementing social and human rights best practices and fuel our commitment to a brighter, more sustainable future!
Your role as a Sustainability Advisor - Human Rights
In your role as Sustainability Advisor, you will join the Corporate Sustainability team in its work to secure Vattenfall’s position as a frontrunner in sustainability. To do this, you will primarily be supporting the team to understand social and human rights best practices, as well as supporting colleagues throughout the organization to implement them.
Your daily activities:
Perform research and analysis on topics including best practices in sustainability reporting, valuation of social and environmental impacts, national and international social and environmental strategies and policies, regulatory trends as well as ad hoc requests
Identify sustainability gaps and improvement needs, implement related actions
Support our business units and top management with sustainability knowledge or on specific sustainability projects
Raise sustainability awareness and drive engagement within the organization on relevant sustainability topics
Support our business units in knowledge and awareness of best practices with regards to stakeholder and community engagement, particularly related to indigenous peoples
Boost transparency externally via targeted communications and reporting

The above will have an emphasis on human rights, but is not limited to the topic.


Qualifications
Who are you?
As a Sustainability Advisor we believe that you are a big picture thinker, with strong analytical ability and attention to details as well. You have the ability to extract, synthesize, and convey relevant, understandable insights from very complex topics, and communicate it to others. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following:
A proactive self-starter with the ability to inspire and motivate change
Humility as a key element of your collaboration philosophy, coupled with a sense of determination
A desire to have a positive impact on society as a core motivating principle

To succeed in this role, our ideal candidate will have:
A relevant academic background
A few years working experience in international environments dealing with strategy and sustainability topics
Strong communication and project management skills
The ability to prioritize and manage multiple different tasks and topics simultaneously

Topic-specific expertise is greatly advantageous but not a must:
Demonstrated professional experience with human rights (UNGPs and OECD guidelines) and indigenous peoples
Familiarity with existing and coming sustainability legislation, including reporting (EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and due diligence (EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive)
Experience from the energy or extractives industry

The position require fluency in Swedish and English, with a big emphasis on the first due to communication with key stakeholders and work with complex reports, policies and guidelines.

You will be working in the department Sustainable Business Performance & Transparency and the position is located at Vattenfall’s headquarters in Solna in Sweden. The role requires occasional travel, both in Sweden and to our other international offices. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
