Sustainability Business Expert - Animal Welfare & Material Ethics
The H&M Sustainability department in Stockholm is looking for a material sourcing expert to lead the strategic work on Animal Welfare & Material Ethics to support our circular approach and responsible material sourcing.
H&M's responsible sourcing vision is to ensure that all our raw materials are sourced in a responsible way from a social, environmental, and animal welfare perspective. Our goal is to gain full traceability and find ways to ensure that the materials have been produced responsibly. In this role you will be responsible for the governance and development of the Animal Welfare & Material ethics policy, including sourcing routines and strategies connected to each material listed.
The role includes a lot of internal and external networking to anchor, drive, and follow up on goals, but also to conduct risk evaluation, develop goals, and sourcing routines for new materials. You will work close with colleagues from both the global- and the production Sustainability teams, and you will also participate in external networks and collaborations connected to responsible sourcing on specific materials.
We are now looking for someone to take the lead in this role during one of our colleague's parental leave.
Main responsibilities within the role are to:
- Support brands and functions in issues related to our Animal welfare & material ethics policy
- Identify sustainability risks connected to new materials and develop routines and strategies on how we can source more responsibly
- Participate in external networks, global collaborations and standard development groups related to focus materials
- Participate in both internal and external projects and initiatives related to responsible sourcing
- Support the communication team on issues connected to the Animal Welfare & Material ethics policy
We are looking for you, who:
- Have at least five years of work experience working with material ethics and/or animal welfare
- Have at least five years of experience from the retail business
- Have experience from working in production
- Are able to see the overall perspective, understand different business models and how processes are interlinked
- Strong problem solving skills and decision-making abilities
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Are comfortable in expressing yourself in English, verbally and in writing
Additional information
This is a full time position based in Stockholm, starting in May with duration of approximately one year.
