Sustainability Director Development & Collaborations
INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
We are looking for an inspiring, creative, and senior design leader with proven experience to develop Sustainability in Design. The successful individual will work in hand with the Global and regional Sustainability & Innovation leaders and drive our Strategy towards effective execution with the ambition to deliver sustainable Branded User Experiences across all physical and digital products and service platforms.
The position, located in Stockholm, Sweden, is part of the Global Design Leadership Team and reports operationally and functionally to Chief design Officer.
DESIGN AT ELECTROLUX
Design at Electrolux is a global community of 200 multi-disciplinary professionals operating in over 7 locations worldwide. The aim is to design meaningful and sustainable consumer experiences (products, services, and interactions) in partnership with the different Business Areas. Essential duties and responsibilities:
● You will work closely with the Global Innovation & Sustainability teams, support the global sustainability strategy and translate it in to a tangible Design Strategy in close collaboration with the Global Design Leadership Team.
● Your thinking will span across the full sustainability spectrum, from how we can influence people’s behaviors to lead more sustainable lives, through our experience business models, material selections & manufacturing decisions.
● You will be part of a network of purpose driven, action oriented and collaborative colleagues and identify, shape and drive humanity centered projects.
● You will be supporting the Branded Design Strategy and facilitate the development of the Better Living Program across BAs in a meaningful way.
● Coordinate sustainable material development across BAs – for the Brands, the geographies and the planet.
● You will support the cross category project teams to ensure that we operationalize our Strategy and bring our road maps to life.
● Collaborate with senior Sustainability leaders in the Business Area to activate the sustainability agenda and commitment to action plans and objectives.
● Support and facilitate the creation of frameworks, guidelines and development curriculums to educate and enable the organization to deliver.
● Identify and engage internal stakeholders to define, track and report progress, both internally and externally.
● You will through Design & Trend Research reveal sustainability related trends to inspire and support future shifts in the organisation.
● Provide thought-leadership, knowledge, information and data to support further development of the overall Sustainability framework.
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience in Circular Economy business model development.
• Understanding the importance of Whole System Design to ensure that efficiencies in one part of the system do not create problems elsewhere.
• Knowledge of product design for repair, reuse and remanufacture.
• Understanding of methods and software for Life Cycle Assessment.
• Service design experience to enable shared, extended use or 2nd life business models.
• Knowledge of how to use design thinking methodologies to influence sustainable consumer behavior.
• Knowledge of sustainable materials and processing techniques.
• Knowledge of corporate energy, waste and emissions management.
• Tools and techniques in facilitation of workshops for stakeholder engagement.
• Experience of sustainable brand communication initiatives.
• Building external partnerships for business model exploration and knowledge transfer.
• Corporate education initiatives and internal comms experience.
